Dudek's transfer to Liverpool in doubt

Jerzy Dudek's transfer to Liverpool is hanging in the balance with the Champions League transfer deadline approaching.

Jerzy Dudek's transfer to Liverpool is hanging in the balance with the Champions League transfer deadline approaching.

Liverpool and Feyenoord agreed a Stg£4.85million fee this week for the goalkeeper, but the English club haven't finalised the deal as Dudek has yet to pass his medical.

Liverpool sent a doctor to Poland to examine Dudek yesterday, but also expressed doubts that the transfer could be completed in time for the Pole to play in Europe.

Feyenoord claimed today that the official did not complete the medical, saying he did not take the required blood test.

The Dutch outfit also said this afternoon that the English giants faxed them this morning to cancel the transfer because there was not enough time to complete the deal.

But Feyenoord insist the transfer can still go through and have asked the Poland team doctor, who conducted blood tests on every member of the Polish team on Wednesday, to send Dudek's results to Liverpool.

Poland are preparing for tomorrow's World Cup qualifier against Norway.

Feyenoord general manager Jan Swaart told the club's website: "There's a big difference between failing a test and not successfully completing a test."

The Dutch club, according to the website, are said to be considering legal action if the deal collapses.
