Dublin city childcare strategy published

Dublin will develop into a city where all are equally valued the new Minister for Children Brendan Smith said today.

Mr Smith was publishing the new Dublin City Childcare Committee (DCCC) strategic plan for 2007 at an event in the capital.

The plan sets out future objectives of the committee in implementing the Government's National Childcare Investment Programme (NCIP) 2006-2010, throughout Dublin city.

Mr Smith said that to date, over €135 million has been allocated to the Dublin area by the Office of the Minister for Children. Some €3.3 million of this has been allocated to the DCCC.

The Minister he looked forward to seeing the fruits of DCCC's labour.

"We hope to see Dublin city develop and prosper into a city, to quote the plan, "that really does have a system of early childhood care and education that values all children in the context of families and communities."
