The strongly nationalist residents of the Carlisle multistorey flats off the New Lodge Road have secured the agreement of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive to change the imperial sounding names of the various blocks to titles more attuned to Celtic mythology.
The East Belfast DUP MP, Mr Peter Robinson, yesterday attacked the Housing Executive for "capitulating to republicans".
Alamein House becomes Eithne House; Alanbrooke House becomes Finn House; Alexander House becomes Oisin House; Artillery House becomes Grainne House; Churchill House becomes Cuchulainn House; Dill House becomes Fianna House and Templar House will be called Maeve.
