Scene sealed off by Garda forensics team

Gardai are investigating the death of a woman whose body was discovered at a house in Waterford City by members of the emergency services tonight.

It is unclear tonight whether the woman’s death is being treated as suspicious but the scene has been sealed off and is being attended by a Garda forensics team.

The woman, thought to be aged in her early 60s, was found by members of the fire brigade at the house in Killure Grove, St John's Park in Waterford City.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and her remains were taken to Waterford General Hospital.

A postmortem examination is due to be carried out tomorrow afternoon to confirm the cause of death.
