Court gives Mugabe go-ahead on land reform

Zimbabwe's Supreme Court today gave President Mr Robert Mugabe's government permission to proceed with its land reforms.

Zimbabwe's Supreme Court today gave President Mr Robert Mugabe's government permission to proceed with its land reforms.

The interim order reversed a previous ruling by the court.

The Supreme Court in November had declared the land reform scheme unconstitutional and ordered a halt to the program.

But today a bench dominated by new appointees said in a two-page ruling that administrative courts could resume processing the government's requests to acquire farms.
