A man accused of bombing the Belfast-Dublin railway line walked free from Belfast Magistrates' Court yesterday after the charge was dropped.

Mr Anthony Notorantonio (41), from Whitecliffe Parade, Belfast, was charged a year ago with causing an explosion at Finaghy Halt with a home-made bomb.

Mr Notorantonio spent four months in custody before being released on bail by a High Court judge. When he appeared on remand at Belfast Magistrates' Court yesterday a prosecution lawyer said that the charge was being withdrawn. No explanation was given and Mr Notorantonio walked free from the court.
