Hundreds of British troops have begun operations in Afghanistan, targeting a former Taliban and al-Qaeda strongpoint in the east, it was reported today.
"There's a significant number of 3 Commando Brigade operating in the mountains of Afghanistan with coalition partners," Brig Roger Lane told reporters at a base north of Kabul.
