London - Protesting lorry drivers in Britain held demonstrations nationally yesterday to show their anger at the rising costs facing their industry, including that of fuel.
Drivers jammed routes in a number of cities and towns including London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Exeter and Truro. The Transport Minister, Mr John Reid, retaliated by saying that "neither the government nor the public will be held to ransom by action like today's".
