Monaco - Visiting Algerian President, Mr Abdelaziz Bouteflika yesterday sought to play down the recent wave of violence in his country, referring to attacks by Islamic extremists as "epiphenomena." The Algerian president warned that his army would respond energetically to the wave of violence that has claimed 100 lives in Algeria so far this month.
