Three people were hurt in a series of blasts at an improvised arms warehouse in a Croatian police station today

Three people were hurt in a series of blasts at an improvised arms warehouse in a Croatian police station today. Nearby houses and cars were also damaged according to police in the eastern Croatian town of Osijek.

The country’s Interior Minister Mr Sime Lucin told reporters the explosions appeared not to have been caused by sabotage, but refused to elaborate further.

A powerful blast destroyed a container of ammunition and explosives in the station's yard just after midnight (11 p.m. Irish time), triggering a chain of smaller explosions over the next two hours, state news agency Hinasaid.

The three injured were all well away from the building when they were hit by flying shrapnel or debris.
