PARIS FASHION WEEK: A commanding presence at Dries Van Noten's twice-yearly women and menswear fashion shows in Paris, Patrick Scallon has been director of communications with the luxury Belgian company for the past five years.

Based in Paris and Antwerp, he worked for 14 years as head of communications and art director at Martin Margiela.

From Fermanagh, the politics and economics graduate of UCD moved to Brussels to work at the European Commission, ending up as a freelance writer.

As the public face of Margiela, which grew to become a major international brand now owned by Diesel, Scallon left to join Van Noten and is now a highly respected spokesman for the global brand, whose annual sales are estimated to be about $70 million.

He regularly returns home to Fermanagh, where his parents and family live.
