Palestinian leader Mr Yasser Arafat has accepted a plan proposed by US President Bush to end a month-long Israeli siege of his Ramallah headquarters, an aide to Mr Arafat said.
"President Arafat approved the American-British plan which has been conveyed to him by the American and British consuls in a meeting this evening," Mr Nabil Abu Rdainah said by telephone from Mr Arafat's compound.
The Israeli cabinet earlier agreed to the US plan, which calls for Israeli forces to leave Mr Arafat's compound and let him travel anywhere once six wanted men are moved to a Palestinian prison where they will be guarded by US and British jailers.
