Police in Co Tyrone are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery of a jewellers shop on the Burn Road in Cookstown this morning.

It's understood that two men entered the jewellers at around 10.40a m. One of them, who had nylon tights pulled over his face, produced a handgun and threatened staff.

He ordered them to fill a rucksack and then made off with his accomplice with a substantial quantity of jewellery. It is though the pair may have made their getaway in what police say was "a large vehicle".

One of the men is described as 5'8" tall, in his thirties and of a medium build. He had stubble on his face and had possibly ginger or fair coloured hair which was showing underneath a dark coloured baseball cap.
