The new EU employment commissioner, László Andor, has accepted an invitation to visit the Mid West and meet with former Dell workers, his spokeswoman said today.
While no date has been fixed for the visit, Mr Andor is due to combine his trip with a visit to European social fund projects.
Labour MEP for Munster, Alan Kelly said the visit is a positive step.
"This news should prompt the Government to start delivering for Dell workers,” Mr Kelly said.

“Workers who qualify for the fund have been hamstrung by administration, bureaucracy and by a lack of positive engagement by the authorities involved. The government must seriously step up to the plate so that it can demonstrate the value of the fund to the Commissioner.”
