Four men and a woman have been arrested in Waterford in relation to serious crime in the city.
Gardaí said the five were held as part of Operation Anvil, the Garda's crackdown on organised criminal gangs.
The arrests were made at about 7am yesterday, and the ages of those detained range from late 20s to mid 50s.
They are being questioned in Waterford, Tramore and Dungarvan Garda stations under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and can be detained for up to 72 hours.
