Mary O'Sullivan, Budget Travel - The season here in Majorca lasts from the end of April to the beginning of November. Each year my uniform is a little tight when I first put it on, but is falling off by the end of the season!
Majorca is our biggest market, with up to 60,000 people travelling here with us each year, and work is hectic and physically exhausting. But I love the buzz of being busy. I guess that's why I've been doing it for 25 years.
I live with my Spanish husband and our two daughters, aged 16 and six, near Santa Ponsa. It's a lovely spot with a marina, boats and a beach.
Most days I start work before I'm out of bed. The phone is beside me all night. You just never know what's going to happen. I have a home office I use for a crisis, such as dealing with flights that have been rescheduled during the night.
Once I get the children to school the phone doesn't stop ringing, with reps calling about situations that have emerged.
I have a big team of hotel and transfer reps, with between 13 and 15 flights a week to manage between us. When I arrive at my office proper, I go through the faxes that have come in, perhaps about clients taken into hospital overnight. If so, I'll get on to our hospital rep so she can look after them and their insurance or any flight rescheduling they might require.
I get a range of calls from clients. They may have missed their coach to the airport, or have been asked to leave their hotel because of misbehaviour.
Once I'm on top of that I head to the hotels. We have 18 properties here and clients arriving five days a week. There is normally a queue of people with queries at our desk.
Lunch time will come and I won't have had the chance to get so much as a glass of water. We finish up at the hotel by about 2.30pm and I always have lunch at home with the girls. It's our main meal of the day and important to me. If it's hot I'll try to take advantage of siesta time. Temperatures can hit 40 degrees here.
It's back to the office by 4pm to handle reports, deal with insurance companies and have meetings with reps to go through any issues that may have arisen. The day normally finishes by about 7pm, six days a week.
