This weekend a 10ft polystyrene mountain will be pushed 130km from Dublin to Kilkenny, in aid of the Moving Mountains Trust. The trust, set up by Gavin Bate in 2001, works with street children and their families in Nepal and Kenya. The fundraiser was inspired by the exceptional work of the trust and coincides with Bate's attempt at the summit of Mount Everest last week. The team of 30 volunteers and their mountain left Dublin yesterday and will be passing through Castledermot and Carlow today.
They will also hold a street collection in Kilkenny tomorrow. If you pass them along the road, moving their own mountain, be sure to give them a beep or make a donation to the cause.
