A cavalcade of over 500 motorcycles rode through Dublin on Saturday to hand a protest petition to the Department of Transport's offices on Molesworth Street, Dublin.

The Irish Motorcyclists Action Group (MAG) organised the demonstration to campaign for the rights of Irish motorcyclists. Speaking at the rally, MAG president Dave French called on the Government to reduce insurance costs and allow bikers use bus lanes.

In response to the group's demands Mr Tom Rowley of the Department of Transport said: "The Minister is close to finalising a package of safety measures for motorcyclists. Insurance costs can not come down until safety is tackled."
