Carleton Road is a long road of redbricks and St Declan's Road has the Dutch-style houses. Anything off Griffith Avenue and close to the DART will get higher prices. You'll pick up a house in poorish condition around £180,000 on Brian Avenue. Houses on greens at Marino Park or Croydon Gardens, which are set at an angle without huge gardens, might also be cheaper.

Croydon park Avenue, Brian Road and Windsor Avenue houses have bigger gardens. Marino Green is a nice cul-de-sac overlooking a green. St Declan's Road and Brian Avenue are mature, well looked after and close to Philipsburgh Avenue.

If you can get your hands on anything, do, because prices are spiralling upwards. Little culde-sacs near greens are great and roads close to Malahide Road and Griffith Avenue are the most popular. This is because of their proximity to Dublin 9 and Dublin 5 and also because of the good bus routes and the DART.

The roads off Griffith Avenue such as Turlough Parade are beautiful. Brian Road offers nice brick facades and good back gardens. It's a realistic walk from the city centre, yet a stone's throw from Clontarf.

The Marino Park Avenue end and Carleton Road is for people who want to be near the DART. Nearer Griffith Avenue, in the Croydon Gardens area, the houses are beautiful. It's a balance between the Griffith Avenue and Marino Park Avenue ends.
