Developers to tender for ex-British embassy today

AT least six developers are expected to tender today for the former British embassy in Merrion Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. Some of the housebuilders interested in acquiring the property plan to retain the two large Victorian houses and to construct up to 30 apartments behind them. Others would like to demolish the houses to make way for about 40 apartments aimed at the top end of the market. Either way, the houses and 1.5 acre site are likely to sell for more than £2 million when tenders close today.
