Ranelagh is fairly spoiled with fine cafes offering some of the best coffee in Dublin, and the likes of Er Buchetto and Pinocchio have recently been joined by Nick’s Coffee Company, a charming little shack beside the entrance to the indoor market, where the company also has a stand.

The Nick of the name is Nick Seymour, who has plenty of experience in the coffee industry, and who sources more than 30 different organic coffee beans from all over the world, which are then roasted in Ireland. The company sells its beans at various farmers’ markets, and to restaurants such as the Town Bar & Grill.

The friendly face at the Ranelagh stall is Nico Melinu, an Italian barista who has been based in Dublin for the past seven years – even competing in the Irish barista championships a few years ago. Melinu is one of five baristas serving up Seymour’s blends, and the young company is looking at opening new stands around the city, including on Tara Street.
