A piece of Kate

Magazines sell more copies when she’s on the cover and her clothing line for Topshop caused around-the-block queues. Having Kate Moss aligned to your brand is a winning formula which Rimmel has benefited from for the past 10 years. The collaboration has taken another step with a collection of four lip shades designed by Moss. Her association with Rimmel goes back to her schoolgirl days, when she purchased her first lipstick in one of its best-selling shades, Heather Shimmer. The four Kate colours cater for all occasions, from day time nudes to an on-the-town siren red. They will be available from next Monday, €6.95.

Seasonal hair SOS

With the change of seasons, your hair can thin and become dull and unmanageable and may not respond to your usual routine of shampoo and conditioning. Chemicals in hair colours, and the use of blow dryers and straighteners, can also contribute to the damage. Hair masks are a relatively new addition to the battle for good hair days and can give a much needed boost to stressed-out locks.

VOLUME L’Oréal’s Serie Expert Fiberceutic (€17.80) adds softness and volume after just one treatment. Active ingredient intra-cylane works by filling in any tiny gaps in the hair fibre, resulting in a fuller looking head of hair. Previously only available as a salon treatment, this home version can be use alone or between professional visits.

SHINE Kerastase Masquintense (€35.30) is a rich cream mask from the Rolls-Royce of hair ranges. It’s particularly effective as a weekly treatment, adding bounce and shine to dry hair.

OVERNIGHT Umberto Giannini Overnight Beauty Moisture Balm (€7.99) works like a night cream for your hair. Apply it at bedtime and wake up to a good hair day. It gets extra marks for the keen price, and the fact that you don’t need to it rinse out the next morning. From Boots.

Mineral magic

Bobbi Brown’s new Mineral Foundation, (€33) is like no other loose mineral powder I’ve come across. Whereas many powders can leave skin dull rather than dewy, this blend gives a silky, natural finish while evening up tone and texture. It has SPF15 too.

Mineral blush is a great way to get a natural glow – the skin-friendly pigments give a healthy looking flush of colour – and who’s to know it’s not your own? Elizabeth Arden’s Pure Mineral cheek colour (€31), comes complete with a brush and a choice of rose and coral shades.

The new lip shades from leading mineral brand Bare Escentuals (€18) are a hybrid of lipstick and gloss and give a long-lasting, plumped finish to lips.
