My make-up routine just got easier with Tom Ford’s Tainted Love cheek and lip stain, €46

My make-up routine just got easier with Tom Ford’s Tainted Love cheek and lip stain, €46. A swirl on cheekbones adds va va voom and used on lips it gives a lovely “just bitten” stain.

Army greens feature strongly in autumn’s palette, but it can be a difficult shade to pull off on nails. YSL have – ahem – nailed it with this excellent green/brown shade that works as a dark neutral with just enough punch.

YSL Nails Lacquer in Khaki Arty €25

Nude nails are always a winner, but why go for boring beige when you can step it up with a flattering lilac shade from the Autograph range at Marks and Spencer. It’s so easy to wear and looks satisfyingly sophisticated.

I Can’t live without... VIVIENNE CAMPBELL, herbalist

Jasön Sea Kelp Shampoo and ConditionerThese are the best shampoos and conditioners that I've found on the market. Theyre totally natural and they last for ages. Great to tame frizzy, curly hair (and I should know!).

Nettle teaThis stuff is great for the skin as nettles are high in both vitamins and minerals. Traditionally a blood cleanser, nettles are brilliant when used for detoxing. I look forward to them coming out every spring so I can drink a pot every day. It's always the time of year that I get the most compliments! Great to brighten the eyes, clear the skin and improve energy levels.

Porridge oatsThey're yummy, very nourishing and full of B vitamins as well as being very useful as a cosmetic. Oats make a lovely exfoliant for the skin as they're very soothing for dry skin and an oat bath is wonderfully therapeutic and often helps to relieve eczema.

Cider vinegarIt's a very good conditioner for the hair and leaves it soft and shiny. The vinegar smell disappears as soon as it is dry so you won't go around smelling like a chip-shop!

Empress Sweet Orange Hand & Body MousseI make the Empress products myself from seaweed and shea butter and this mousse is my favourite. It smells good enough to eat!

Vivienne will be at the Rude Health show on Saturday, September 15th and Sunday, September 16th at the RDS.

What to buy - NOW

A little make-up treat is just the ticket for giving you a beauty boost – these new arrivals will bridge the seasonal gap until you’re ready for autumn.

Scared of eyeliner? The steady hand required to draw a non-wobbly line can be daunting, but the subtle (or dramatic, according to your taste) definition it gives to the eyes makes it a skill worth mastering. Many years ago, make-up artist extraordinaire Alan Pan gave me the great tip of applying colour between each lash and gradually “joining the dots”. Clarins have used this principle with this ingenious three pronged lining pen, which creates the illusion of much thicker eyelashes too.
