He’s prickly, he’s the saviour of garage rock aesthetics, he’s one of the best guitarists of his (indeed, any) generation, and he’s the man who dragged gnarled country/blues/rock’n’ roll into the here and now.
Darn it, Attracta, but Jack White is something of a Renaissance Man, and if advance reports of his US shows are anything to go by (notwithstanding his NYC Radio City gig last month, when he stormed off stage after 50 minutes, never to return; apparently he was unhappy with the sound), then we’re in for a 20-song-plus gig. And that’s not including encores, with God knows how many band formats. For these solo shows in support of his superb album (Blunderbuss) White is touring with an all-male band, The Buzzards, and an all-female band, The Peacocks.
All that remains to be seen is whether U2’s Edge – who appeared with White in the 2009 music documentary It Might Get Loud – will pop up somewhere between start to finish. Gig of week/month, for sure.
