Ailbhe Malonecries happy tears for the Beckhams

TRACK OF THE WEEK: Call 911by Florrie (Fred Falke Remix)Xenomania protege Florrie has been around for longer than you might have noticed. A seasoned session drummer at just 21, she's played for Kylie, Girls Aloud and Pet Shop Boys. And now, luckily for us, she's branched out into warbling. Call 911seems to have been written solely for a getting-ready-with-the-girls- cut-to-the-dance-floor video montage, and is none the poorer for it.

** In news to make all the male – and some lady – readers of Pop Corner happy, Katy Perry has announced that she has a crush on Cheryl Cole. In Dublin this week to judge the X Factor auditions, the California gurl tweeted: “I wish Cheryl Cole tweeted, she was a sweeeeetie pateeetie today. (girl crush alert.)” Do we hear a new girl band in the making? Or at least a duet?

The chorus goes: "There's something about you and I." Stop! It's grammar time! Surely, m'Lady, that should be "there's something about you and me"? We all remember the Bad Romance"you and me" debacle of 2009. Someone grab Gaga a grammarian – and fast.

** Ke$ha's smarter than we thought. At a recent performance in Toronto, the pop star requested "glitter, hot dogs and philosophical books on the origins of species in her dressing room". That's fitting for a gal who has a track named Dinosaur, no?

** There was a frightening moment this week when the internet was a-flurry with whispers of a Beckham split. Pop Corner couldn’t handle the idea of this, and we hid under the covers until an official statement was released by Victoria’s spokeswoman that declared the rumours “utter nonsense”. Phew. All’s well again.
