When this pubescent boyband sneezes, Twitter catches a cold. But have One Direction lost their way? Their debut single, released this summer, was an upbeat and reasonably likeable effort. But this soppy follow-up – a lifeless ballad so bland Westlife wouldn’t touch it with a stick – is an all-out disaster area. #prayforonedirection

Princess of China Parlophone**

The third single from Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto album features one of the biggest, dumbest choruses in pop history since John Farnham's You're the Voice in 1986. Oh, and it's got Rihanna on it too. There are dollar symbols bulging in its eyes, but for all that ambition, Princess of Chinais pretty damn forgettable.
