BOTH a carved giltwood convex mirror dating from around 1820 and a pair of 19th century ormolu tall candelabra, probably French, made the same top price at Hamilton Osborne King's opening auction of the year last Wednesday. A pair of late Canton export vases sold for £1,600, a 19th century walnut and marquetry vitrine cabinet fetched £1,500, a pair of carved giltwood framed armchairs in the French style went for £1,300, a Meissen model of a recumbent hound made £1,100 and a mahogany and satinwood inlaid serpentine front side cabinet in the Georgian style fetched £1,050.
Among pictures, an oil from the circle of George Henry Harlow of a family conversation piece made £2,500 and a turn of the century Continental extensive landscape went way over its estimate of £300-£400 to sell for £1,400.
Victorian dining table fetches £1,350 at Drums D RICES at the January fine art auction conducted by Drums of Malahide included: £1,350 for a Victorian mahogany dining table; the same price for a French marble chimneypiece; £800 for a large stripped pine kitchen dresser; £550 for a Victorian walnut veneer open bookcase; the same price for west of Ireland view in oil by G.K. Gillespie; and £400 for a circular dining table with marquetry in the Victorian tradition.
