Irish writer-producer-director Ronan Glennane has had his first feature film, Pride and Joy, selected for the prestigious Monte Carlo TV Festival next month.

It is nominated in the category of Best TV Film, which was won by Omagh at last year's festival. Written by Glennane and Nell Greenwood, Pride and Joy is a micro-budget family drama set in Dublin during the property boom. Owen Roe and Michele Forbes play a married couple who lose half their home to her errant brother (Aidan Kelly).

Glennane told Reel News that the Irish Film Board rejected the film twice for a completion loan, but RTÉ stepped in and ensured that he could complete post-production. "Without the assistance of RTÉ the film would never have seen the light of day," he said, "and this nomination is, hopefully, a vindication of their support."
