Media competition for the attention of Irish doctors is Set to increase this week with the launch of Medicine Weekly, a 56pager colour tabloid. The newspaper is being published by Eireann Healthcare Publications and will be competing directly with the Irish Medical Times and Irish Medical News in an increasingly crowded market.

Eireann Publications is investing £1.5 million in the new medical newspaper and will have a staff of 13, headed by editor Ms Linda Giles. Eireann already publishes a number of medical titles, including Modern Medicine, Hospital Doctor, Pharma and OTC Directory. Medicine Weekly will be circulated to 6,000 doctors.
