A former manager with the Irish operations of TNT Express Worldwide Limited has settled his action against the company over a claim that he was owed more than £100,000 in unpaid bonus payments.

Mr Colin Jarrett (52) of Killinvoy House, Knockcroghery, Co Roscommon claimed he was appointed special services manager of TNT's operations in Ireland in July 1993 on the basis of an agreement under which he was to be paid a salary of £12,000 a year and a bonus of 40 per cent of the monthly gross profits of the division.

In its defence, TNT denied that any arrangement entered into with Mr Jarrett was intended to operate indefinitely. It was expressly agreed, the company said, that Mr Jarrett's position, his remuneration and bonus were at all times subject to review and renegotiation.

On the second day of the hearing at the High Court yesterday, Mr Ercus Stewart SC, for Mr Jarrett, said the matter had been settled and the case could be struck out.
