SIGMA Wireless Communications has won a major contract with Motorola, which is expected to be worth about £4 million a year.

The contract is to supply antennas for a range of four Motorola. GSM mobile phones, and under the deal the Finglas electronics company expects to be producing 50,000 units by the end of this year.

Sigma currently has 165 employees, but plans to recruit a further 75 staff over the next three years as a result of the new contract with Motorola.

The managing director of Sigma Wireless, Mr Tony Boyle, said the contract would be worth almost £4 million annually at first, but he added that this was likely to expand as sales of GSM mobile phones were growing rapidly throughout Europe.
