Public Offices Commission lists who gave what and to whom

The financial donations contained in the four lists published to date by the Public Offices Commission are generally smaller than the contributions currently being examined by the Moriarty and Flood tribunals. However a number of very large contributions have been disclosed. These include:

Parties 1997

Irish Distillers plc, to FF, £25,000. Waterford Crystal, to FF, £30,000. Arcon International Resources plc, to FF, £15,000. Irish Distillers plc, to FG, £22,500. Irish Distillers plc, to Labour, £12,500.

Politicians 1997

Mr Ruairi Quinn, £10,000, from Mr John Rohan, Treasury Holdings. The money was passed on to the Labour Party. Irish Intercontinental Bank also gave £5,000 to Mr Quinn who received £27,070 in total. SIPTU donated £16,759 to 10 Labour Party members including Mr Quinn.

Parties 1998

Mr Martin Naughton, to FF, £50,000. (For the Belfast Agreement campaign.) O'Callaghan Hotels, to FF, £50,000. (For the Belfast Agreement campaign.) Conor Holdings Ltd, to FF, £25,000. (For the Belfast Agreement campaign.) Mr Peter Goulandris, to FG, £10,516. Smurfit Packaging Corp, to FG, £7,000.

In 1997, Sinn Fein received £94,000 from its US fund-raising body, Friends of Sinn Fein. In 1998 it received £182,000 from the US.
