A highly successful innovative partnership yesterday announced further extension plans, writes Arthur Quinlan in Limerick.

It brought the voluntary, public and private sectors together in a €1.26 million enterprise in Limerick three years ago, after the collapse of the Krups industrial plant,

Mr Liam McElligot, chief executive, of the Limerick Enterprise Development Partnership, said: "The new challenge for the partnership in the immediate future is to support the creation of an additional 150 jobs on the site."

At present more than 850 people are in employment and training in the development park on the site where formerly 700 people worked for Krups contributing €10 million per annum to the local economy.

In addition, FÁS has 150 apprentices and CERT 255 training places on site.
