Stocks bounced back yesterday after a brief spell of renewed worry about Asia, lifting some market indexes just high enough to set new records.

The Dow Jones industrial average erased an early 23-point drop and rose 90.93 points - or 1% - to 9,167.50, erasing Thursday's 85-point slide and edging past Wednesday's closing record of 9,162.27.

The Standard and Poor's 500 and Nasdaq composite index also set new highs by a narrow margin.

The Standard and Poor's 500stock list rose 14.54 to 1,122.71, nosing past the April 3rd record close at 1,122.70.

The Nasdaq composite index rose 8.35 to 1,866.59, topping Thursday's record finish at 1,863.26.

The NYSE composite index rose 7.20 to 584.11.
