Frankfurt DAX: 4496.33 (-52.13)
Germany's DAX share index, which closed before the release of the US jobs data, finished 1.15 per cent lower at 4,496.33 but the XETRA DAX after-hours electronic system was 35 points or 0.79 per cent higher by the close.
Paris CAC-40: 3216.66 (+27.06)
The Paris Bourse overcame a morning dip with a mid-session rally ahead of Wall Street's opening and carried on strongly the rest of the session to finish at a new record closing high. Traders noted that the rally came after the release of US employment figures for January.
