After the European Central Bank's decision last week not to cut interest rates, attention in this shortened week will focus on inflation data in Europe. In the light of the ECB decision, it is thought likely the euro-zone figure will come in unchanged at 2.6 per cent on Thursday, still well above the ECB's 2 per cent target. Food prices and energy are expected to be the main culprits.

The United States will publish inflation data tomorrow.
