The Paris Bourse closed up 2.37 per cent on Monday, helped by a firm dollar and by strong performances on other European markets. The indicator had been up by 0.6 per cent at the Monday opening. Trading volumes were light and dealers said sentiment over South Korea's financial crisis appeared to be turning more positive.

Milan Mibtel: 16,678 (+440)

Italian shares reached record highs, with the index closing almost 3 per cent higher. A strong start on Wall Street and good performances throughout Europe helped the market move ahead.
