The Irish Hotels Federation has called on the Minister for Finance to focus on skills training and international marketing instead of grant aid and tax incentives for accommodation construction in the Budget.

The federation's chief executive, Mr John Power, insists the industry must regroup and get the service and facilities element of its business absolutely right before more expansion of accommodation is undertaken. "We propose that this suspension be enacted for five years," he said.
