Germany's three biggest auto companies yesterday pledged to push ahead with multimillion dollar investments in three new Brazilian car plants this year, despite the crisis facing Latin America's biggest economy.

Volkswagen, DaimlerChrysler and BMW said they were not abandoning plans to open new plants in Brazil amid global concerns for the country's economy after the effective devaluation of its currency on Wednesday.
