The former chief executive of Greencore and current chief executive of British transport group Dr Gerry Murphy, received total package of £470,000 since is appointment at NFC. Dr Murphy's £470,000 package includes £390,000 covering loss of share options and other benefits he enjoyed with Greencore.

Dr Murphy, who was appointed chief executive last summer, six months after Sir Christopher Bland - former head of London television broadcaster LWT - became chairman, has made sweeping changes to the group's management since his appointment.

The appointment of Dr Murphy was made following a six-month search for a new chief after the resignation of former chief executive, Mr Peter Sherlock, in August 1994.

NFC has also revealed that five executive directors who left the company in a boardroom shakeup shared a total compensation package of £2.151 million.
