ESBI wins contract

ESB International (ESBI), the ESB's international subsidiary, has won a contract to help modernise the Saudi Arabian power network.

The contract for an undisclosed amount is to help modernise the network control system of the country's largest power utility. It was awarded by SCECO Central, which is responsible for electricity supply in Riyadh and the central province in Saudi Arabia.

The overall contract is worth $25 million and was won following competitive bidding, but these monies will be shared with other parties.

ESBI will prepare specifications for new computer hardware, software and telcommunications equipment.
