ONE of the Margin's readers has brought a disturbing matter to our attention. Working his finances through Quicken, the leading personal finance PC programme produced by the US company, Intuit, he came across a box in the outgoings section, allowing the user to input how much he or she paid in "IRA Contributions". Was this a Noraid link-up? Not at all. The Margin's man stateside tells us that an "IRA" is an individual retirement account, a US style tax-deductible personal savings account.
