The job of BMW AG chief executive, Mr Bernd Pischetsrieder, appeared in jeopardy yesterday after reports that the German car company's supervisory board is to oust him for failing to turn around its loss-making British Rover unit. BMW dismissed as speculation a barrage of German newspaper reports that its supervisory board would replace its chief today after the company last week said 1998 group earnings fell for the first time since 1995 as Rover struggled with losses.
