Be careful who sees your credit card bills

One lesson to be learned from the inspector, Mr Lyndon MacCann's report into Bula Resources is, if you are involved in a conspiracy, be careful who sees your credit card bills. One of the more bizarre episodes of the whole Bula affair was the claim by Craig Bond, son of the disgraced Australian tycoon, Alan Bond, that he owned the mystery British Virgin Islands company, Mir Oil. Mr Bond lives in Hertfordshire, England, and the solicitors who first made the claim to Mr MacCann are also based there. Mr MacCann got access to the Visa statements of former Bula chairman Jim Stanley because they were still being sent to Bula even though the company was no longer paying the bills. Surprise, surprise, there were expenditures listed on the statements from Hertfordshire, from around the time the Bond claims first emerged. Mr MacCann concluded this was not a coincidence.
