COUNTYGLEN'S High Court actions against its bankers, the Anglo Irish Bank Corporation, its solicitors, Connolly Sellors Geraghty Fitt, and the Carway family, have been settled and struck out.

Mr Michael Forde, senior counsel for John Carway, his wife, Jane, and sons, Stephen and Warran, told Mr Justice Paul Carney yesterday that the Carway family had not to contribute towards the settlement.

When Ms Fidelma Macken, SC, for the defendant solicitors, objected to the agreement being read out in court, Mr Forde said the case had been the subject of enormous publicity and his instructions were to read out the terms of settlement.

He said it contained no stipulation regarding confidentiality.

Mr Forde, who appeared with Mr Sean Deegan and Ms Deirdre Byrne, said there had been adverse publicity regarding his client and justice had to be administered in public.

Following brief talks between the parties, Mr Forde said it had been accepted he would read part of the agreement relating to the Carways not having had to make any contribution towards the settlement.

Mr Justice Paul Carney struck out all actions against all defendants.
