Westmeath, the reigning All-Ireland champions, were fully extended in this quarter-final replay at Cusack Park, Mullingar.
Wicklow, playing against a slight breeze, had early points through Tony Hannon and Keith Furlong. Gary Doran then forced Westmeath goalkeeper Gary Connachton to save; but the in-rushing Trevor O'Donnell scored to give Wicklow a 1-2 to 0-0 advantage after eight minutes.
The Westmeath forwards combined well in the second quarter to create a brace of goals for full forward Derek Heavin. At halftime Westmeath led by 2-4 to 15.
Despite Gary Doran being sent off in the 38th minute Wicklow continued to carry the game to Westmeath.
A Des Dolan point in the 45th minute increased Westmeath's lead to three points, 2-6 to 1-6.
Westmeath now play Wexford in the Leinster semi-final.
