Tribute to a legend: Players take time out for Ballesteros

SEVE REMEMBERED: GONE but not forgotten

SEVE REMEMBERED:GONE but not forgotten. Each of the 156 players who registered for the British Open this week signed a book of remembrance for Seve Ballesteros, who passed away in May after his battle with cancer. Ballesteros, a three-time winner of the Claret Jug, was 54.

A large number of the players went beyond merely signing their names. Most added personal messages in the book, which will be passed on to the family of Ballesteros as a memento of this year’s championship.

The RA have also put his image on the draw sheets of each day, with all of the proceeds to be donated to the Seve Foundation, which promotes awareness of brain cancer research.
