GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI appeared to tip one of his former clubs, Inter Milan, to beat another, Bayern Munich, in the final of this year’s Champions League, with the Italian suggesting Jose Mourinho’s side would have too much talent and experience for Barcelona and, most likely, the Germans next month.

“Barcelona is not easy game for them, but I have confidence in the mentality of Inter,” he said. “My opinion is that Inter can score a goal in Barcelona. They can play well there and they can score a goal also.

“They have great players and they are not scared. Barcelona will be difficult but, for me, they must be aggressive if they want to win. They play fantastic football, they are very creative, but Inter is a solid team, like one I had at Juventus with a great Brazilian and Argentinians players as well as Marco (Tardelli), (Michel) Platini and (Zbigniew) Boniek; the best in Europe at the time.

“Bayern Munich are another strong team,” he continued. “They have a good strong personality as a team but I think if the final is between Inter and Bayern, I have doubts about Bayern being the stronger.

“I know Bayern and the players there very well and the German mentality is important but I spoke with Mourinho and he has many good players.

“He has the ability to change the players without changing the team. In attack he can play (Samuel) Eto’o or (Diego) Milito. In every position he has more than one player and the structure of the team stays the same. All are strong and work hard for the team. When the players have this hunger, I can tell you, I am happy.”
