RACING:TRAINER MICK Mulvany will hope to beat the odds and pick up a hugely valuable Group Two success on Derby day at the Curragh tomorrow when Tough As Nails takes on the big boys in the Railway Stakes, writes BRIAN O'CONNOR

Subsequent classic winners like George Washington, Rock Of Gibraltar and Mastercraftsman have all won the Railway, part of a remarkable run for Aidan O’Brien that saw him win the race 10 times out of 11 up to last year.

Ireland’s champion trainer has two runners tomorrow while the British champion Richard Hannon brings his impressive Naas winner Lilbourne Lad back for some more prizemoney.

Mulvany in contrast has a relatively small 25-horse operation outside Kells. But one of them is Tough As Nails, only just beaten by the Coventry winner Power on his last start, who is owned by the trainer’s father Larry, a National Lottery winner in 1993.
