David Kerr, Paul Haycock and David Lynagh accounted for the points in Terenure's Metropolitan Cup semi-final win over luckless St Mary's at Anglesea Road yesterday.

Lynagh's accurate kicking, hooker Kerr's leadership and the dangerous pace of left wing Haycock were the key factors. Kerr, though, lasted only 32 minutes, being struck from behind by a cowardly punch. By then, he had claimed a 24th minute try and just about reached the sideline to put on his tracksuit top when Haycock got over for his first try. Lynagh converted to make it 15-0 after opening the scoring in the 14th minute from a penalty.

It became a bit of a stroll after that. Lynagh knocked over two more penalties and converted Haycock's dazzling individual try in the 59th minute.
